IIM - Intelligent Interface Module
Most large chillers provide for or have an add-on card to allow an analog input to reset the temperature of the supply water in the system. This interface is typically there to allow building management systems to do night setback or other fluctuations of the set point. The IIM can provide compressor optimization without wiring directly into the control circuitry within the chiller. This also allows all the chiller safety features to continue uninterrupted. On some large refrigeration compressors, a slide valve is used to adjust the capacity of the compressor in response to the requirements for cooling. Unlike other compressor capacity controllers, the slide valve has two solenoids that are controlled independently by the existing controller to either load up or load down the compressor. The IIM is wired exactly like a SIM module and will perform as if it were a SIM. |

The Intelligent Interface Module (IIM) is used in place of the standard SIMs when a temperature reset must be used during savings periods or when a slide valve is controlling the compressor capacity. Up to two IIMs can be connected in series to a single LNC.
